This is a Book (shh, grow, quiet, carry)

Here is a completed book.  As I am a book arts student, it is only natural that I sometimes return to the codex for inspiration. Natural, but not necessary (I might not do this again). The content of the pages are less stream of consciousness than the ongoing Oven Mitt of Feelings, but are nonetheless directly related to my experience creating art.  A little bit of a book of mantras and their backsides.

  1. a virtue of the codex form is nicely exploited here : the facing left (abstract) and right ("legible") pages, which solves a problem (as I see it) in embroidery, where the back can be as interesting as the front!

there's also the hint of a poetical rhythm here — would be more evident if there were more pages — that bring to mind Margaret Wise Brown, her Goodnight Moon (1947). (there's a copy in the seminar room, somewhere around here, right side).

  2. p.s.,
might also work a "new" embroidery into the back of a previous one... signal and noise, so to speak...

but mainly: good to see one thing, next to another !
