Art making in itself is a form of art. The processes in which we express ourselves are micro environments, usually left unexplored in order to get to the final result. However, to quote Ralph Waldo Emerson, “Life is a journey, not a destination.” Instead of leaving methodology as a means to an end, it is possible I plan on exploring the auditory journey of my artwork.
Through various ways of recording my process through sound, I want to display the musicality that can be found within my art. Since my art consists of abstract patterns, there is a rhythm that can be seen, and which I believe can also be expressed through sound. Some ways which I plan on exploring this are as follows:
● Attaching a microphone to a drawing device and recording the sound
● Overlaying my art on a stylophone or a sound-producing circuit and tracing the line-work
● Importing a drawing into a midi file
If time permits, I would like to create a “music album” with samples of each song, and possibly create a single combining each sound into a single “song.”
