Abstraction and Pattern
January 26, 2022

1. I want to express my thoughts using abstraction and pattern. Some of my inspiration will be coming from patterns and objects I see in nature, art, fashion, music, literature, our class discussions, and a practice of being present with meditation and mindfulness. Patterns and especially working with patterns (repetition, variation, transformation) can provide a sense of order in what might otherwise appear chaotic.

2. This is as true in art as it is in life. Negative patterns (attracting toxic people, addictions, negative thinking) can be right-sized once they are recognized. It is important to see these negative recurring patterns in your own life so you can then become aware of them and see them for what they are and then be able to implement changes that are necessary in order to break the cycle.

I will be looking for opportunities to use this pattern work to help others and apply part one to part two.

abstraction and pattern; first thought, second thought.

abstraction and pattern; first thought, second thought.
I am working with these ideas in two realms: (1) visual design; and (2) behavior. I hope my work in the first realm can play a role in my work in the second, both for me and for others, personally and professionally.
